How to Clean a Pee Funnel
ALWAYS read your pee funnel’s instructions to see how it specifically should be cleaned.
But in general, basic soap and water is all you need to clean a pee funnel, and the Pibella can be boiled.
When cleaning, focus especially on the back of the stand-to-pee device, the part that hits your perineum (“taint”). But obviously clean everywhere. If your pee funnel has a tube that can be removed, detach it to clean.
Most pee funnel makers assume that if you need to use an stand-to-pee device, you won’t be near a bathroom with soap and water. Most pee funnels are designed to be repel liquid and be shaken dry. If you have a water bottle, pouring water over it can be a good measure, as can carrying Wet Wipes.
Look into your heart and decide how easy-to-clean you need your pee funnel to be. A Venus to Mars or a pStyle takes seconds with a Wet Wipe; a large funnel with a tube is a little harder to clean on the go.
In a pinch, remember the bits to focus on are the bits that touch your body. The whole thing doesn’t necessarily have to be sterilized in the field.
If you can’t rinse your pee funnel between uses, be aware that a plastic pouch will develop a stank. A washable fabric pouch is easier to keep clean. You can also keep a stand-to-pee device tied in a bandana for convenience. Many stand to pee makers sell cloth pouches with carabiners, and some pee funnels come with a pouch.
Does it feel weird or dirty to reuse a pee funnel without washing it in a sink? Remember that you probably wear the same underwear all day!
